John McCain is stupid

My brother is a dumb jerk. He postulates that Senator McCain (henceforth known as John McCrazy or Grampy McPain) is not dumb- contrarily- he is quite intelligent. After all, having made his way up the ranks from a lowly POW to Senator of the great state of Arizona, he must be sharp.
If anyone was paying attention- Grampy's campaign would be over due to the fatuous and ignorant comments this guy makes on a weekly basis. Look it up- its AT LEAST a gaffe a week this guy. This week, it was two gaffes in a day.

For my brothers benefit, I'll make a quick list of my favorites. Whilst you peruse- try picturing a Democratic candidate floundering around witlessly in the same manner.

Story Telling = Plagiarism Also, from this week (that makes three if your counting. McPain tells a moving story about his internment in the Hanoi Hilton to a crowd of supporters. Turns out, the story was most likely lifted from Nobel prize winning novelist Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. An excerpt from Solzhenitsyn's "The Gulag Archipelago" matches Grampy's sob story to the letter- minus the different bad guys.

Chocolate covered frustration

My ass is big. Why? My main coping mechanism is food- specifically, chocolate. John McCain opens his trap, I turn to nestle. Another poll reflecting the presidential race is tie- its off to Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Polar Bears? Time for Betty Crocker.

House Republicans are douche bags. I know we should elevate the conversation, but those jerks are directly responsible for my consumption of 2 chocolate bars and an ice cream sandwich. Watching their little 'sit-in' on the adjourned house floor today started the binge. What a debauchery- they have had control- nay a filibuster proof majority for at least a decade and now all of the sudden there is an urgent need to ease Americas oil woes? I had to throw in some cinnamon bears and chocolate covered raisins when the news reported that yet again- Americans have caved to the culture of fear and now resoundingly support offshore drilling. Incidentally, they support offshore drilling, even though most believe it wont lower gas prices.

Someone suggested that I should not underestimate the intelligence of the American populace. My response? LOLZ where is my chocolate fudge brownie Ben and Jerry's? We are referring to a population of people who voted for someone they could have a beer with and ADDED BONUS we don't have to next door to married homos and we can continue to infringe on Woman's reproductive rights (by writ of the great wizard in the sky.. you filthy heathen). Fear numbs the mind. Perhaps we have been numb so long we cant see reality anymore.

Between mouth fulls, I made phone calls to anyone and everyone who would listen. Nancy Pelosi and Joe Baca were obviously not in, but I left them messages urging them to remind their Republican counterparts that Exxon Mobil reported record profits yet again, while decreasing production (even though demand is increasing). I reminded Harry Reid and Barbara Boxer that pursuing green sources of energy will provide new American jobs and energy independence- in half the time (10 years) it would take to save a few pennies on domestic oil production (20 years). Hey Governator! It would actually take 10 years to even begin more drilling domestically.

Talk Radio VS Main Stream Media

The main stream media has taken apart Barack Obamas Life. We have heard about his early childhood education in a madrassa
, his childhood in general, previous experimentation with drugs and alcohol, past business alliances, and even his wife's educational background, specifically her thesis. In fact, Michelle's thesis dominated the headlines for several days- prompting Captain Oxycontin Limbaugh to choke on his housekeepers stash while on air in his home studio. I kid. He has yet to choke on his own vomit. Unfortunately.

The main stream media has outright neglected the McCains. I had no idea Cindy McCain was a beer heiress until Stephanie Miller and her mooks made cutting remarks her fortune. I didn't even know the values voters great hope had been married previously. Not only is he a divorcee, but the war hero abandoned his ailing wife for someone 18 years younger than him. Mr. marriage-is-so-sacred-gays-cant-do-it began cohabiting with Cindy long before his first marriage was dissolved, applying for a marriage license before the divorce was granted. John and Cindy McCain were married less than a month after the ink was dry on the marriage dissolution.

While CNN was reeling about the news that Mrs. Obama had made grammatical errors on her masters thesis, no one dared mention Cindy McCains addiction to painkillers. Not only was she a pill popping junkie- SHE WAS STEALING PILLS FROM HER OWN NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION. I guess republicanism and addiction are par for the course.. how else would they sleep at night? Mr. And Mrs Obama answered questions about how they obtained their family residence from a shady Chicago real estate man while Cindy McCain still refuses to make her tax returns public. Surprisingly- I found a piece on the Wall Street Journal about how Mr. McCain will profit from the acquisition of Anheuser by InBev. Funny I didn't hear about that little tid bit during the extensive coverage of the buy out on MSNBC, the msm is hard pressed to connect the McCains to the wealthy beer producer on any occasion.

Moral of the story- cable news has its place. However, it is imperative to draw on every available resource for information these days. Our media has failed us.

Coming to terms with FISA reform

People usually have to come to terms with death and disappointment. I have philosophical meltdowns about CSPAN.

To preface- I'm in love with Barack Obama. He sweeps me off my bitter, cynical feet and has done so ever since I read The Audacity of Hope. He has the power to make me feel optimistic and hopeful.. which doesn't typically happen to me without ingesting synthetic substances. He has done things that disappoint me, like you know- attending church. But nobody is perfect and there has yet to be a candidate that matches up perfectly with my crazy left wing tree hugging ideals.

Last Friday, the House of Representatives passed HR6304 which included criminal immunity for telecom companies who illegally wire-tapped American citizens in the wake of September 11th. Its being heralded as a bi-partisan compromise- lauded by our venerable Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. She expressed a sense of urgency- and although she have "preferred" an earlier bill (one that DID NOT) include immunity- the new bill was apparently the best our democratic majority could muster.

I was infuriated. My very own representative, Mr. Joe Baca, voted for the bill. Damn it I called the guy at least 3 times last week! the thought of our 4th amendment right to privacy has been pissed on over and over again... we as American people have a right to know exactly what crimes were committed by the white house and they must be held accountable!

The next step of course is for the Senate to rubber stamp the bill and send it off to King Bush and viola! the pillaging is complete. To my greatest disappointment, senator Obama has voiced his support for what can only be described as a democratic capitulation to FEAR. Once, I was livid. And heart broken. It seemed my philosophical love affair with Mr. Obama was coming to an end.

I get it. Senators like Obama are afraid of appearing weak on terror. Who wouldn't in this era of 30 second CNN soundbites about fist-pumps by candidates wives and yet another he said, he said religious test squabble. Issues? Nobody talks about issues- we cant touch the growing plutocracy, the carpet bombing of congressional election funds by telcos the day BEFORE and AFTER voting on the bill took place, or anything substantive for that matter. Obama, Pelosi, and other compromising dems claim that the new bill will put some structure into place. Since the old FISA expired the white house has no regulation on spying whatsoever, even via secret court. Besides, people can still pursue civil litigation.

It doesn't speak to accountability. We are allowing this to happen. I cant not NOT vote for Obama come November, there is simply too much at stake. The senate vote has been delayed until next month due to mavericks like Chris Dodd and Patrick Leahy. In the meantime, there is outrage building and action is being taken.

To my surprise, I still have a few.

Apparently, there are certain amendments that the American government DARE not tamper with. The first of which is my right to own a gun. A split Supreme ruled that the District of Columbia's ban on guns violated the second amendment. Gun enthusiasts all over the country are hoisting their confederate flags and breaking open the bud ice in celebration! Their main contention is, of course, you can't mess with the constitution. I wonder- where were those gun enthusiasts when the Congress elected give immunity to telco companies who violated their 4th amendment rights? Do you think they will put down their semi-automatic rifles to phone their senators and urge them to vote against yet another FISA capitulation?

Secondly, the supreme court ruled that child rape does not warrant the death penalty. More importantly, the death penalty cannot be used in non-capital offenses. Rape should be a capital offense. Another topic for another day.

Did anyone else notice that on the same day the court ruled on the highly emotional child rape case they also decided to let Exxon Mobil off the hook? My my, how the profit margin doth swell! In any case, I noticed, because IM PAYING ATTENTION.

The repugs talking points are business as usual. Lets go through a few and see if we inject a little reality into the mix.

Lifting bans on offshore drilling will boost our supply- Neo-Con Linky Strike one repugs! Drilling more in America and we see a decrease of about a penny per gallon in 20 YEARS! Link 1 Link2 Link3 Link4

The Chinese are already drilling off of Florida's coast, so we should join in the action! FALSE. And whats worse, they all know its false. I watched the subcommittee on CSPAN this week when house democrats showed pictures of the alleged patch of ocean- its just a patch of ocean. There is nothing there but saltwater.

Drilling at home will spur the "Arabians" to produce more oil! Liberals cry HORSE SHIT! Saudis have already agreed to produce 200,000 more barrels a day to meet increasing demand for the next 30 years. Iranian sanctions certainly wont help. Neither will Israeli nukes on Iranian soil, but that's another post for another day.

Fact- Oil prices are high due to "speculation". Predictions about violence by our allies in the middle east. It has nothing to do with domestic production.

Fact- Our oil sucks anyway. The good stuff is in the middle east. It simply isn't worth devastating pristine Terra firma and displacing/killing endangered species to get to.

Fact- Oil companies have barrels of the stuff 'capped' (1, 2) right here in the good old U S of A. They drilled, and rigged, and then let it sit.

Fact- A republican controlled congress could have lifted the bans AT ANY TIME during their 6 years as a majority. They had a filibuster proof majority, and yet they did nothing.

Instead of crying about high gas prices, we need to be pushing for energy independence. Its within our grasp. We can tackle global warming and rid ourselves of the oil conglomerates that are presently running our lives via campaign contributions to prominent members of the party.

We will see how this unfolds. Are Americans willing to destroy their home and ultimately drive this country into the ground so they can have their 1.80 a gallon gas prices back? Is an endangered species worth your SUV? I wont even touch how we could grow our local economy with green energy jobs.

Freedom Isn't Free

I was faced with this slogan today on a young mans t-shirt. Its an army recruitment shirt I suppose, with a lovely if not diluted, fear tactic emblazoned on the back. The slogan is a powerful one- bringing to mind men on a blood soaked battle field risking life and limb for liberty and justice. Except... thats not what its really all about is it? We don't fight for freedom with guns and bombs anymore- we fight with words and legislation.

FISA. Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. The executive and legislative branches of our government have been battling over our constitutional rights in regards to FISA for several weeks now. Battle lines have been drawn- the executive branch maintains that government MUST have unfettered access to citizens communication (your phone calls, emails, etc) in order to prevent terrorism. Further, The King threatens to veto any legislation that does not include retroactive immunity for telecom companies (AT&T, Verizon and Sprint) who cooperated with big brother sans warrant to spy on American citizens. Theres one small* problem, the Constitution of the United States forbids agencies to spy on Americans without probable cause (See Fourth Amendment). This is, in fact, why the FISA courts were created, so that government agencies with valid evidence could quickly obtain warrants in pursuit of justice.

Most FISA warrants can be obtained in less that 10 minutes. Most FISA warrants are granted, with approvals in the 90 percent range. The King and cronies in Congress claim that the telco's acted in good faith and have broken no laws. They are patriots! Esteemed members of the party who do not consider that silly piece of paper more important than security.

They want us to choose between Freedom and Safety. The party wants us to believe that if we don't abandon our principles, our children will not be safe. We will not be safe. There will be bigger and more devastating attacks on American soil. Its a false choice- a hypothetical that doesn't exist. There is no dichotomous relationship between privacy and liberty. To imply otherwise is to employ the fear tactics we have subjected to for the past 7 years. Its working. Both houses have already passed bills that include conglomerate immunity for trespasses against the constitution.

I've been emailing, calling and writing letters to pertinent individuals in the House and Senate for weeks now. It only takes a moment to make a phone call. House representatives will discuss the matter of telco immunity today March 14.

We dont need guns to fight for our freedom, we just need a voice. Call your represntative and leave them a message letting them know you DONT support telco immunity, and these people should be held responsible for violating the constitution.

Carried Away

It happens to the best of us. I cant help but be filled with rage and a sense of powerlessness sometimes. A moment of clarity as it were, came upon me today, the 35th birthday of my (tentative) legal right to make my own reproductive decisions. Blanket statements are typically prejudiced and fallacious, albeit cognitively convenient. Every single person on this planet with testicles doesn't hate women. Hugo Schwyzer seems to empathize and raise up the feminist movements. After reading several of his blog entries Ive deduced he has a firm grasp on reality- he understands the patriarchal rape culture, his role and privilege in it and how to address these issues. Men Can Stop Rape is another brilliant organization founded and run by members of the patriarchy that works in the community to raise awareness and address their role in the degradation of women. Women and men must work together and tackle the inequalities that we all suffer from in a gender biased society.

In any event, here we are, 35 years later, and my right to a safe abortion still up for debate. Legislation passes dangerously close to law that restricts our rights, and people came out is droves today in support of the "Anti Abortion" movement. Oh the horror- most of these people are women. Not only do we have to fight the sex hierarchy, we have to fight each other.

Imagine if those people protested the war instead of rallying together to oppress themselves. Epiphany.

Perpetual Consent

Contrary to what the world community believes, women are not in a perpetual state of consent. We are not simply receptacles available for male pleasure accessible should they desire.

I know it sounds crazy. The media inundates us with girls gone wild advertisements and images of fabulous twenty-somethings that embody impossible standards of the patriarchy. Its manipulation, brainwashing. This pornography based culture systemically degrades and dehumanizes women. Its a deliberate, methodical method to keep women in lower class of oppressed people. Their execution is FLAWLESS. Look at how effective misogyny is! We are responsible for mens desires, and yet our rights to our bodies are still up for debate. We still make less money, regardless of education, compared to men. Ultimately men fear and hate women.

ALL MEN HATE WOMEN. Need proof? Look at your husbands porn collection. He is turned on by a person who is humiliated and forced into submission by his misogynistic wage hierarchy. If that woman were to put put on some clothes, go to college and choose to climb the corporate ladder instead of lying on her back, she still wouldn't make the wage he could. That makes your husband feel good. Still think that porn collection is harmless and innocent? Consider this- The percentages vary by study, but up to 85% of prostitutes/ porn stars were victims of sexual abuse or incest as children (1,2,3). This sort of sexual abuse psychologically damages a woman, takes away her humanity. Pornography is the theory, rape is the practice.

The world we live in doesn't punish rape, its excused away if not blatantly encouraged. This allows them to keep the powerless underclass of women in a state of fear which leads to submission. Rape trials are notorious for criminalizing the victim and putting her on trial for the crime committed against. She is questioned about her sexual history, how many drinks consumed and what she was wearing preceding the crime. Its presented in a manner that suggests women are ultimately responsible for the transgression against them. On a larger scale, rape is used as an instrument of war. The UN fails to recognize state sanctioned rape as a crime.

I informed a colleague that I was a feminist. With a raise of his eyebrows, he expressed sympathy for the movement and thought he was a feminist also. However, he indicated he didn't approve of women receiving or asking for "special privileges". Fucking really? What about the PRIVILEGE of walking to your car without looking over your shoulder, car keys ready? The PRIVILEGE of making decisions in regards to your reproductive rights? How about the PRIVILEGE of innate uncontested societal value?

Oh yes, men fear and hate women. It would suck to not have those privileges handed to you at birth wouldn't it?

Well lets just hide the death counts from this unpopular war from the world community and opposition will just go away! The surge is working we swear!

The polar ice caps are melting. In fact, the North Pole ice sheet has decreased in volume by 23% in less than 2 years. Yeah, global warming rears its ugly head in mythical proportions.

Blog Action Day- What You Can Do

CFL's- If every American household replaced just one regular bulb with a compact fluorescent it would be comparable to taking 1.3 million cars off the road.

No more Plastic bags- We use them for no more than a couple of hours, and yet they take more than 500 to degrade. Recycling, in this case, isn't much help- it's expensive and uses excessive energy. Speaking of energy, we use up to 12 billion barrels of oil producing these things. Use green bags. They are available at most chain stores now- Stater Bothers, Ralphs, Trader Joes, even Target for about a buck. Some stores have incentives to using reusable bags in addition to how good you will feel! Ralphs takes 5 cents off your bill for each green bag and Trader Joes enters you into a weekly contest with cool prizes.

Go Veggie- Factory Farms are not only cruel and unethical, they are gross polluters. We decimate rain forests and exhaust resources like water and grain in disproportionate amounts. Run off with hormone filled animal waste infects our water ways. Even reducing your families meat intake by one meal a week can have an impact on the environment.

Every single human being on this planet is responsible for Global Warming. This is a global problem, and we have to address it globally. I've listed just a few small things you can do... nothing to life altering or drastic.

Pictured is a monk who was beaten to death for speaking out against injustice. This isn't just a police state. There are several police states on the planet, for shits sake we are becoming one. But the Junta are targeting monks. These men are so far above your typical bible thumping hypocritical god bag it sickening. These men live and breathe the path, they are truly good and holy men. You don't hear about monks molesting children or dictating morality to others- this behavior is beneath them. They dedicate their lives to the cause.

Monks are fierce. They wont stop until their goal is accomplished. The people of Burma want their country back, they want democracy. The Junta are behaving in a manner befitting of the Gestapo. People are being imprisoned for protesting, torn from their homes in the still of night and 'disappeared'. Our present government must be forced to act. You see, unlike Iraq, the Burmese dictatorship is friendly to American oil and natural gas interests therefore its no use for the U.S. to 'liberate' them. So lets make them care, lets hit them where it hurts.

Over at daily kos the net roots communities are gathering to force our government and the corporations that fund to act against this humanitarian nightmare. An entire generation came together once in this country. Young adults joined with only one idea in common- outrage at their government. These young people organized, made signs, sang songs and expressed their rage in non-violent protests. They were successful in their endeavor and the Vietnam war ended. History tells us that Vietnam is one of America's darkest, deadliest and worse decisions we have ever made. Okay, lets be real- a bunch of stoned teenagers put together grassroots protests and scared the powers that be enough so the mother fuckers would stop sending them to slaughter. Nonetheless, their government feared them, and we can learn from them.

An article in the Washington Post today highlights a recently discovered White House document called the "Presidential Advance Manual". Please read the enclosed document just linked from the ACLU website, it will open your eyes. In it you will see how The Administration has tried to 'deal' with the loud voice of dissent. It attempts to put in place a procedure, a literal set of directives to minimize the impact of people who disagree with the current policies of this country.

This is powerful document that represents the strength the American people have forgotten they have. King Bush and his cronies will attempt to marginalize and criminalize anyone who shows dissent. Reading this short document made me laugh and brought me to tears. It is validating yet chilling. To think- they would actually hire people to heckle others who are simply exercising their constitutional right to free speech. I am grateful for every hour that I have spent protesting and dispersing information. I do not regret a single moment of police custody. This document is a silent "THANK YOU" from The Administration.

No, support includes a rational person who sees there was never a need for us to be in Iraq. Support means a financial backing to remove troops and stop the "surge". Its no coincidence. Saddam Hussein switched his Country's currency to the Euro, and less than a year later- his Country was occupied. Due to his decision- our money became less valuable (have you been to Europe lately? Check out the exchange rates). American Dollars were no longer backed by the massive wealth that lies beneath the Iraq desert.

A WAR FOUGHT FOR POWER
With our control over the sea of black gold, we dominate Eurasia. The demand for oil is booming as world populations grow. They have to buy it from somewhere- and being that the middle east sits over 3/4 of the worlds supply- well you do the math.

A WAR FOUGHT FOR GREED
Dick (head) Cheney is the former CEO of Halliburton, the agency receiving the majority of rebuilding contracts in Iraq. He still holds a large chunk of Halliburton stock. In addition to these contracts- Halliburton is the sole company taking care of our troops. They are providing Shelter, water, and food for the Men and Women we have chosen to fight this war. Its supposed to be clean.
Instead, as you can see in the video including testimony from the former Halliburton purification specialist- they are recieving contaminated water.

AN EVIL WAR- AT A HIGH PRICE

Our brothers and sisters in the military trust their government. They trust that you and I will not send them to make the ultimate sacrifice needlessly. But- thats exactly what we are doing. As Mr. Carter stated above, if the our troops come back without a bullet, they may return home with deadly and contagious pathogens in their blood- due to the Bush administrations greed and indignation. They will come home to VA hospitals that cannot (or will not) care for them.

Instead of throwing around empty phrases and putting a 4 dollar magnet on your car- GIVE THE TROOPS REAL SUPPORT. Contact you local government officials and let them know you are concerned. Let them know you are aware, and you are spreading the word to everyone who will listen.

One last Rant. Hilary does NOT need to apologize. We were all lied to. Its fantastic that others feel compelled to do so, yay for them. Instead of dwelling on the little things (like campaign funding and "clean" candidates) perhaps we should start making some decisions. The machine has been spinning its wheels since I was in primary school. Admittedly raised in a wildly liberal California, I was aware of the deterioration of the planet - caused by humans- from a very young age. As children we were warned of the consequences of pollution, holes in the ozone layer, global warming and the misogynistic/ christian kill em' all cause that's what they are here for mentality.

It appears to me that (20 years later) the cognizant public is starting to get it.

I watch a considerable amount of television these days, all of it news. (the evolving zeitgeist that I mention in my last post has made for some great new programing). From bbc world news, to Link and google current, I feel as though I have a pretty good idea of what kind of info the general populace is getting and/or interested in. We wont talk about my cspan addiction.

Every day. Every single day, there are reports about global warming. On every network... even cspan. Everyone is talking about it, which leads me to believe that everyone is concerned about it. As well they should be.

The environmental messiah has been nominated for the Nobel peace fucking prize. No shit. His ground breaking movie, An Inconvenient Truth, is being trumpeted as the cause for the general awareness that I have blissfully fell upon. In the news this week, Im sure you saw, more than once, the IPCC's report confirming that humans are responsible for global warming. It took a panel of geeky types to reiterate what Ive known since primary school, and 20 fucking years. Here I go again with the I told you so's.

In a nut shell, if you keep driving that SUV in oblivious chosen ignorance, your stupidity WILL cause the death of millions of people. YOUR planet will change so drastically, it will not sustain human life as we know it.

Funny evil story- I'm in the city of angels last night. An accident occurred on the freeway. Normally, this would concern me. Is everyone okay? Have the officials been called? Alas, I noticed what vehicles were involved. My heart stood sill, in joyous rapture, as I noticed an SUV had collided with a particularly hideous truck (with one of those fancy lift kits ha ha ha). Both monstrosities had crumbled with the impact. As I slowly drove by heckling and hoping that all of the passengers had died or been seriously injured, I remembered I wasn't alone. My friend requested that I never stop being so EVIL. It makes his tummy warm.

Well its about fucking time. The American people have finally found their voice. Thousands of people turned out this weekend for anti war protests all over the country. its quite gratifying. I'm not even bitter about the fact it took 7 years of bigotry and hate. 7 years of our civil rights being violated. 7 years of pain and death, as we watched our brothers and sisters die needlessly in the desert as our environment crumbled at our feet. Well maybe a little bitter.

I cant contain my adulation about ex white press Secretary Ari Fleischer and his testimony today. Never mind the fact that the Bush/ Cheney regime is going down in flames (I cant wait until those fuckers are put on trial for war crimes). We knew this testimony was going to be dirty (in a delicious seedy way) when Ari demanded immunity before he testified. Here is to hoping his testimony contributes to Cheney's former chief of staff inevitable prison sentence wherein he will be gang raped repeatedly by large hairy black men.

Do you hate your boss? How about an ex lover? I found this delectable site today where you can send scathing anonymous letters for the low low price of 3 bucks. It says anonymity is guaranteed- but what do they give you if your privacy is breeched? Your 3 dollars back? Although the CEO of the company I work for is first on my list to receive the funny how shit rises to the top card, I'll be verifying that guarantee before it actually gets sent.

Being 25 is extraordinarily stressful.

I feel the need to work with people right now. As in the last year. Not the typical charity stuff I USED to have time for, but a career change. Its just not moving fast enough, compounded by my indecisiveness. Behavioral health is such a vast field... its simply a matter of narrowing it down and finding where I fit. As always, this only a step. Up up and away.

And yet, there is the California pull. You would think one would grow out of this. I feel no shame or remorse in regards to my addiction to music. 10 years?

Now I have to go cancel a romantic weekend trip to Napa. Im sure he will understand. Really. THE SCREENING has been announced and shall not be missed.

In case you are living in an ignorant cave aka the Midwest, ALJAZEERA has launched a kick ass English news network. Its been in the works for quite some time, and I was obviously fired up about it. Being a victim of American television, spin, and one sided information has left me badly bruised and in desperate need of legitimate information. My only source for good info on the tube is BBC (of course) and Mosaic on the link channel. Yummy. In Aljazeera's case, the bias will be a refreshing slap in the face. Wake up America, people are suffering while you are blissfully oblivious.

But, of course, Americans don't get to watch Aljazeera. There aren't any networks or cable providers, other than a french satellite service that nobody gives a shit about that have the guts to carry it. Fuck the religious right and their insistence that we stay ignorant and uninformed. Yeah that's your personal decision to suspend all reason and rationality in order to pursue a blind faith in you re country. How UN- American. Go fuck your sister and leave my civil rights alone.

Unexpected Breathtaking Happiness

Three words you probably never thought you would hear coming from me. There it is regardless, every letter of it true and heartfelt.

The dems have claimed the house and senate, restoring a long forgotten checks and balances of the 3 branches of government. Namely, the executive branch, which will no longer have the capacity to assault the American people signing away our lives in the middle of the night. Yay! The world community joins us in celebration, as we can once again dare to hope. Hope... what a strange and fascinating emotion. Its so refreshing. For so long I have been filled with sorrow, hate, and hopelessness as the Republicans ran a rampant psychotic agenda to drive us all into the ground. I'm not alone in this optimism. Democrats will find their strength and challenge the atrocities that have taken place in the last decade. We are prepared to face the devastation, because now we know it can be repaired.

My reaction to the overwhelming good news post election day were to first run to the restroom and cry joyously, then spread the excitement to everyone around me. This was before Donald Ayatollah Rumsfeld resigned! Imagine my glee when checking on the very tight race for senate control only to fin the smirking chimp gasping for air through stutters and excuses.

It was quite unexpected for most of us, but most likely planned by the Bush cabinet. Its a strong game plan- obviously Rummy will be seen as the orchestrator of the devastation in Iraq. Just what the Repubs need- a scapegoat. He made it easy with the torturing with no conscience bit. He went so far as to excuse the atrocities at Abu Ghraib and even defended water boarding as a 'humane' interrogation technique. He should have been charged with crimes against humanity, while his boss was impeached and charged for the same crimes. I'll be patient, because George's day will come. Just as Rummy's did.

There is plenty of time to speak of voting fraud, the complexities of pulling out of Iraq, the fact we still have a retarded movie star as a governor, and the tragic failure of proposition 87. Right now, this moment, we rejoice and make plans for the future no longer afraid of a fascist state.

We simply cannot carry on at this pace. The evidence is out there. In 50 years, there wont be any more fish in the ocean. 50 FUCKING YEARS. I plan on living that long, if for no other reason than to watch the destruction humanity reeks upon itself.

Lets consider the impact of several extinct species on the planet shall we? Its not about sushi. An entire community of ecosystems will be obliterated. Mammals like whales and dolphins will be completely extinct, nothing more than children's stories. The coral reefs which provide oxygen to all living things- gone. Shit, by that time we will all be breathing through oxygen tanks because the middle class has to drive their minivans and SUV's. Yeah.

Read the article. Do you see who impacted the most? As usual, its the poor and under-educated. Its the people who are starving to death is under industrialized countries. People are dying from diseases that can be cured with a 5$ shot. Children are being robbed of life by Aids. Millions of people don't have clean water. A simple thing like clean water.

Overpopulation is to blame. People have become a parasite on this planet. Draining every natural resource with reckless abandon. In booming countries like the US, we have sacrificed the environment for a steady climb to the top. With no sense of responsibility (to each other or the rest of the world).

I was discussing my passion for environmental issues with a colleague the other day. He didn't like being questioned about the reasoning behind purchasing an automobile that was a menace to humanity. He asked what I thought he should with his 5 children. 5 CHILDREN? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? Is your life that empty? Why do people feel the need to reproduce in the face of overpopulation? There are millions of children who have no parents, no home, no food or opportunity for education. There are kids in your immediate vicinity who are abused and abandoned that need love more than you need to pass on your "seed". Its total and utter selfishness. Any excuse you can come up with is most likely rooted in completely unfounded narcissism and/ greed. Prove me wrong. I'll give you 10 bucks.

So, I say again, please stop having children. There are plenty in the world that need parents. Also, please don't ever order fish if we go to a restaurant together. I will vomit on your plate. Not kidding.

There is no shame in admitting my fan-girly excitement at the news. In fact, I was not alone in my shocked state of bouncing off the walls. We in the NIN community usually have to wallow in our own depression and self loathing for a good 5 years between records. I was expecting it (and appropriately filled up my prescriptions as a precaution). Personally, I attribute this change solely to TR's very public new take on life due to sobriety. In other news, America is the #1 contributor of green house gasses in the world. We spew almost 25% of the crap that's killing the planet into the air. Guess what! I'm single.

Have been for ages. And you know what? Its fufilling. Im completely independent, financially and emotionally. I dont have the burning the desire to run out and go on crappy dates to find 'the one'. Me. I am completely self sufficient. Im so sick of the looks, and the questions. WHY IS SUCH A GREAT PERSON SINGLE? they ask. Because I want to be. There is nothing wrong with me because I enjoy being alone. I love doing what I want, when I want. Have you ever condidered the possiblity that there is something wrong with you? No really. Bill Clinton's presidency was a golden age in American politics. His domestic policy left us a united country with a budget surplus, unemployment at an all time low.. The international community didn't heckle as we passed by. I could go on for days. Now this.
